ADHD: What Do We Know... What Can You Do to Help This three hour introductory workshop provides an overview of the causes of ADHD, the process for diagnosing this condition, and the importance of a multi-modal approach for treatment. Dr. Monastra will review, in detail, how medications work, how proper nutrition can promote response to medication and reduce side effects, and how parents and school districts can collaborate in developing an educational program that promotes school success. Because this workshop is intended for parents, teachers, and counselors, Dr. Monastra divides the workshop into three parts, presenting strategies for use at home, school, and in counseling sessions.
Teaching Life Skills to Kids with ADHD This social skills workshop will focus on sharing techniques for developing communication skills, emotional control, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving abilities in children and teens with ADHD. Strategies for overcoming teasing and bullying, organizing time and possessions, and developing self-confidence will also be covered.
